Text & Body Copy

Styling - If you are attempting to apply styles (bold, italic, underline, change in point size etc) and are not seeing these styles once you have saved your changes, please ensure you have removed any previous styling from your copy.

Text cut from the internet, Word documents etc will potentially already have styles applied. Pasting your copy into Text Edit for Mac or Note Pad for Windows and setting the style to default will remove any existing styles and ensure the copy is clean.

Also be sure to remove any additional spaces, carriage returns and tabs that may contain previous styling elements.

Images

Format - Images should be saved in JPEG, GIF or PNG format.

Extension
- Image should have .jpeg .jpg .png or .gif extension to the file name.

Colour Mode - Images for the web should be saved in RGB colour mode.
(CMYK images intended for print will not display correctly and in some browsers will not display at all)

Corruption - Is the image corrupted? This can be checked by successfully opening the image in an editing programme (Adobe Photoshop, Corel Painter, Windows Paint etc)

Correctly Saved - Has the image been saved correctly? Attempting to save images before they have fully downloaded can cause corruption to the file in question.

File Size - Generally, images intended for web application should be a maximum of 1mg (megabyte) or 1024kb (kilobyte) in size.

Physical Size - Ensure the physical size of the image is also of reasonable size for web use. Images taken on a digital camera and potentially camera phones will be captured at a larger size in readyness for printing.

(Oversized images can take longer to download, distrupting the users journey through your site. They can also use excess amounts of your hosting bandwidth as well as your users bandwidth allocated by their Internet Service Provider (BT, Virgin Media, Talk Talk, etc)

Copyright Infringement - Please ensure that you have permission by the original publisher to use any content (images, videos, text copy) you intend to place within your website and if required you credit the publisher correctly.
